Walt Balinski of Las Vegas made the big putts when the pressure was on to defeat Frank Sanpei 3-and-2 in the 18-hole match play finals of USPT’s Cleveland Golf/Srixon Las Vegas Open on May 7. The two finalists had the lowest medal play scores on Friday and Saturday, which brought them together in the finals. Both golfers won a Cleveland Golf TFI 2135 putter. In addition, Walt won a Stay ‘n Play 2 Night Golf Getaway from Diamond Resorts.
The Las Vegas putting event was the third USPT tournament held in conjunction with Golf Fest in 2016. The other two shows were located in Mesa, AZ and San Diego. Next up for the USPT are plans for a USPT Championship. Stay tuned!
Nana Koseki, an excellent golfer and putter, beat all of her fellow competitors over the two-day USPT putting tournament held at Riverwalk Golf Club as part of the San Diego Golf Fest event on March 4th and 5th. Nana shot a 2-under par score of 22 on the par 24, 12-hole course. She beat Jeremy Steiding of Encinitas, a fine player in his own right.
Nana won a trip for 2 from Diamond Resorts International, while Jeremy and Sean Kearns, who placed 3rd, each won a Happy Putter, the innovative adjustable putter from Brainstorm Golf. Coming in 4th place was Kilpatrick O’Brien, who had the luck of the Irish going his way as he earned a $50 gift card from Maderas Golf Club.
The 5th- through 8th-place finishers each won a set of six KISS Golf instructional DVDs.
Up next, for the U.S. Putting Tour is the Golf Fest event in Las Vegas on May 6th and 7th. The event will be held at the Taylormade Golf Experience at 6730 Las Vegas Blvd, South. If you live in Las Vegas or if you plan to be there then, be sure to check out Golf Fest and our USPT event, which will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. both days.
Bring your A-game to Riverwalk Golf Club this Friday or Saturday, March 4-5. Your putting A-game, that is. That’s because the next U.S. Putting Tour event will be held this week in conjunction with Golf Fest. Open to all amateur golfers, it’s a 12-hole medal play putting tournament, with the low 12-hole score between the two days will win a trip for 2 courtesy of Diamond Resorts International. Not just any trip for 2, but a choice of nine different trips, including cruises, Las Vegas, romantic getaway to San Francisco and the Napa Valley, to name just a few.
When you attend Golf Fest, you can enter the USPT putting competition as often as you want. The entry fee is just $10 each time you compete. And there will be several other great prizes for the top finishers. The good news is you don’t need to be present at the end of Golf Fest to claim your prize. In the event of a tie for the low gross (or any other prize position finish), we will hold a card-off to determine the order of finish.
The putting course promises to be challenging, but there will be some one-putt opportunities, too. You can bring your own putter or use one of the putters we will have on display where we’re set up, adjacent to the practice putting green. By the way, also next to the putting green will be a beer garden and, of course, all of the other great exhibitors and golf equipment companies with the latest equipment to try. Make sure you come by Riverwalk, anytime between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Friday or Saturday. We’ll see you there!
Congratulations to Nic Mathis of Tucson, who won the U.S. Putting Tour event this weekend at Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Arizona. The putting tournament was held in conjunction with the Golf Fest show, which took place at Longbow on February 12 and 13.
Nic, who shot the lowest score on Friday, competed in an 18-hole match play final against the Saturday winner, Bill Grieder of Phoenix. Nic was at his best in the finals, winning 6 and 5. He came out of the gates fast with three one-putts on the first four holes. In fact, Nic jumped out to a 4-up lead after four holes, then played conservatively until Bill ran out of holes.
Nic won his choice of 11 different vacation packages from Diamond Resorts International and a new Gauge Design putter from Whitlam Golf. As the low scorer on Saturday, Bill also won a Gauge Design putter.
The next USPT event takes place at Golf Fest’s San Diego show, which is being held March 4 and 5 at Riverwalk Golf Club in Mission Valley.
You can putt your way to one of 11 different vacations for two by winning our putting tournament at Golf Fest in Phoenix on February 12 and 13. That’s right, the winner of USPT Golf Fest in Phoenix, technically it’s in Mesa, Arizona at Longbow Golf Club, gets his or her choice of 11 vacation packages for two. The options include cruises, trips to Las Vegas, Napa Valley, or Sedona, family fun vacations, and much more.
So come out to Longbow on Friday or Saturday and give it your best shot…or putt. In addition to the putting event, you can take in demos and giveaways from countless golf equipment companies and other exhibitors. Golf Fest runs from 9:00 to 5:00 both days.
If you live in, winter in or are planning to visit the Phoenix area in mid-February, come be a part of the U.S. Putting Tour event we’re holding in conjunction with Golf Fest at Longbow Golf Club in Mesa. Our putting tournament will take place each day: 9 holes of medal play. The two people who have the lowest score on each day will face off at 4:00 p.m. Saturday in an 18-hole match play competition to decide the winner of USPT’s Mesa Golf Fest event.
The putting tournament is open to everyone: men, women, boys, girls, seniors, super seniors, etc. The cost to enter is only $10. And you can re-enter as often as you want. Plus everyone who does compete in the putting competition receives a $10 off game play card at Topgolf Gilbert. Prizes for the winner and other top finishers will be announced shortly.
Golfers can bring their own putter and golf ball or use ones available on-site. It’s a fun event and good competition – great for friends, golfing buddies and families to participate in together. We’ll see you in Mesa!
The U.S. Putting Tour is thrilled to announce its partnership with Golf Fest in 2016. We will hold two one-day USPT putting tournaments at each of Golf Fest’s first three events in 2016, in Phoenix, San Diego and Las Vegas. This gives everyone a chance to enjoy everything Golf Fest has to offer and to participate in an official USPT putting competition.
If you’ve never been to Golf Fest, you have to check it out – it’s a golf lover’s dream day. Running from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Golf Fest brings together the top names in golf, offers free clinics, lets you test out the newest equipment, enter drawings for great prizes, and get outstanding deals on golf merchandise. And it’s only $10 (with kids under 10 free). To learn more, visit the Golf Fest website.
